WHAT IS MUD HAPPENS…ONE BAD MUD RUN?
MUD HAPPENS One Bad Mud Run benefits the Family Enrichment Center, a local nonprofit agency whose mission is to prevent child abuse. The event is approximately 3.1 miles featuring obstacles that have been surrounded by or consisting of mud where contestants slip, slide and slosh their way to the finish. It is a fun experience whether running or watching! For the little mud lovers we will have some smaller obstacles and activities set up at the KIDS MUDDY CHALLENGE course.
WHERE IS THE MUD HAPPENS?
The event is held at Phil Moore Park located at 7101 Scottsville Road, Alvaton, KY. Click here to view the location on a map.
WHAT ARE THE START TIMES?
Heats will begin every 15 minutes with the first heat beginning at 8:00AM.
For those who are more competitive, there are 1 TIMED heat to choose from: 8:00 a.m. (limited to 50 people per timed event - individuals only, NO TEAMS).
You can sign up for the time/heat you want to run, on the registration page. Please arrive at least 45 minutes prior to your heat. You will be grouped with your heat 15 minutes prior to start of your heat. Make sure you know what heat you signed up for.
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE IN MUD HAPPENS?
The MUD HAPPENS course is for all people ages 10 and up! You can register individually or as a team. Children 10-12 years of age MUST be accompanied by a PAID adult participant.
WHAT IS THE KIDS MUDDY CHALLENGE?
The Kids Muddy Challenge is FREE and consists of small obstacles and activities for children 9 and under. Parents should NOT leave children unattended at the Muddy Challenge and will need to sign a waiver before children will be permitted to participate.

HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO PARTICIPATE?
Early Bird Registration ends July 16, 2021 (Entry for must be postmarked by JULY 16, 2021 to be guaranteed a t-shirt in your size!)
$40.00 Individual; $140.00 (4 people per team minimum; $35.00 for each additional person).
July 17th through August 22, 2021: $50.00 Individual; $180.00 (4 people per team minimum; $45.00 for each additional person).
Morning of Event: $60.00 Individual (no team discounts given). Cash or check payments only.
WHEN DOES REGISTRATION END?
Online registration ends on August 22, 2021 at NOON. Don’t worry, if you miss it! You can sign up at our office located at 1133 Adams Street or on the day of the event.
HOW MANY MAKE A TEAM?
You must have 4 or more to make a team.
EVERYONE MUST SIGN A WAIVER TO PARTICIPATE. You can download the waiver here MudRun Waiver or on our registration page. If you are under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign your waiver. Participants ages 10-12 years of age MUST be accompanied on the course by a PAID adult participant.
HOW DO YOU TRAIN FOR A MUD RUN?
Start slow. Begin by finding a mud puddle and jumping in, progress to rolling in the mud and then running. Don’t try to train for this all at once. Progressively increase your distance each week until you are up for a 5K distance. Remember, most of the race will be through mud and obstacles, so be ready!
IF I WANT TO GET INVOLVED BUT CAN'T RUN THE RACE, CAN I VOLUNTEER?
WE LOVE VOLUNTEERS! We need volunteers to assist before, during and after the event. Please contact us at 781-6714.
WHAT TIME DOES THE EVENT START?
Registration begins at 7AM. The first heat will start at 8:00AM and the last heat will start at 11:00 AM. Keep in mind you, will likely finish the event in less than an hour but plan to stay and enjoy the vendors and other activities.
CAN MY FRIENDS AND FAMILY COME OUT TO WATCH?
Absolutely! And there’s NO charge for spectators. Spectators will not be allowed on any part of the course – we want to make sure no one gets hurt, so we’re not taking any chances – NO EXCEPTIONS.
CAN WE PICK UP RACE PACKETS BEFORE THE EVENT?
Yes, and we highly encourage you to do so! Packets can be picked up August 26th and 27th from 9 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Family Enrichment Center, 1133 Adams Street.
CAN WE PICK UP TEAM PACKETS AT ONE TIME?
Yes, however, you will be responsible for your team members t-shirts, wristbands, packets, etc. If you are picking up for a LARGE team, please call ahead (270) 781-6714 and we will have all of your team’s items together.
WHEN AND WHERE IS PACKET PICKUP ON RACE DAY?
Report to the Registration Area 45 minutes before your heat to receive your t-shirt and get your number (if you are in a timed heat).
CAN I GET A REFUND IF I DON'T RACE?
If for some reason you can’t make the event after you register, no refunds will be given. All proceeds go to the Family Enrichment Center and we appreciate your donation!
WILL AWARDS BE GIVEN?
YES! We will be awarding the FASTEST (Male/Female), and BEST COSTUME (Male/Female/Group).
WHERE DO I PARK?
FREE Parking will be in the field on the north side of Scottsville Road. Signs will be posted.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING?
You may want to bring portable chairs to sit in while you wait for your heat to begin and for the people rooting for you from the sidelines (who will be wishing they signed up because it looks like so MUCH FUN!)
Make sure you have on your WRISTBAND that was given to you at packet pickup or when you registered. This will let us know that you have signed your waiver, etc. and are ready to run!
The day will most likely be HOT, HOT, HOT! So hydrate, hydrate, hydrate! You may want to bring some water with you. Vendors will be on hand selling drinks, food and other goodies!
This is a MUD RUN! You WILL get DIRTY, Please do not wear anything that you do not want ruined or lost. (shoes and clothes have been known to disappear off bodies during the course of the race!)
DO NOT BRING ANYTHING VALUABLE WITH YOU. We will not be responsible for anything lost on the course.
The course will go through WOODED and WATERY areas. Insect repellent is highly recommended. The following plant life and/or species may be along the course:
Mosquitoes, Snakes, Spiders.
Lions, Tigers and Bears…oh my! (I’m just kidding…or am I?)
Poison ivy, oak, and/or sumac.
After the race:
Bring a change of clothes, shoes, a garbage bag to sit on, etc. for your ride home.
WHAT WILL I DO WITH MY KEYS/WALLET?
We encourage you to be there early enough to take your stuff back to your car, but we will have a place where you will be able to check your keys and other small things if needed at the registration area.
